The two ultra-right activists arrested Tuesday by the DGSI would belong to the "accelerationist" movement.

This current of thought aims directly at exploding clashes between communities.

"It is a theory engaged on the road of violence", explains the specialist Jean-Yves Camus.

TO ANALYSE

The two men called for "violent actions".

Tuesday, two activists belonging to the ultra-right were arrested and taken into custody by the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI).

Exchanging via encrypted messaging, they both belong to the "accelerationist" trend, a police source told AFP.

This current of thought, which came from the American ultra-right in 2015, made its appearance in France.

But what exactly is he advocating?

For its followers, who cannot be found in the demonstrations or in the voting booths, the heart of accelerationist thought is to dynamite the system from within, to break out a war between communities.

For them, the political fight is useless, insists Jean-Yves Camus, co-director of the Observatory of political radicalities at the Jean-Jaurès Foundation.

"Accelerationism is a theory that is set on the path of violence and, if necessary, terrorism. It wants to accelerate the final conflagration between themselves and all of their enemies, which range from anti-fascists to homosexuals and to all representatives of the State and institutions. "

A few dozen activists

According to the specialist, the characteristic of this ultra-right movement is that it is not a question of a hierarchical movement, but of nuclei, of very compartmentalized cells which communicate only by encrypted messaging, as is the case for two men arrested in the south of France.

It is therefore difficult to estimate their number, but according to Jean-Yves Camus, they are a few dozen acceleration activists in France.
