Taiwanese authorities have set up a local agency named "Taiwan" in Lithuania, one of the three Baltic states.

It is extremely unusual in a country without diplomatic relations, and while China strongly opposes it, Taiwan positions it as a major diplomatic achievement.

On the 18th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan announced that it had established a "Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania" in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and started consular services.

It is not uncommon for Taiwan to set up a branch office in a country that has no diplomatic relations, but the partner country uses the name "Taiwan" because of consideration for China, which claims that "Taiwan is a part of China." It is common not to admit.

It is extremely unusual for Lithuania to admit this, and in August after the decision was announced, China strongly opposed, such as announcing the recall of the ambassador to Lithuania.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan has positioned it as a major diplomatic achievement, saying that it has opened a new page on the exchange cooperation between Taiwan and Lithuania.

In Taiwan, another unusual visit last month was when the Foreign Minister made a pre-announcement of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

In addition, following the adoption of a document recommending the EU = European Union to strengthen political relations with Taiwan last month, the European Parliament sent an official delegation to Taiwan for the first time earlier this month with Taiwan. The movement of approaching Europe continues.
