From this Thursday evening, a plan to strengthen the security of the Champs-Elysées will be activated in anticipation of the expected crowds on the prestigious avenue de Paris during the end of the year celebrations, the Paris police headquarters announced on Wednesday.

The objective of this measure is to "fight against incivility", such as "the anarchic circulation" of scooters or the "consumption of hilarious products", when the festivities will begin with the illumination of the Champs-Elysées this Sunday evening. .

Measures against scooters and the sale of "laughing" gas

The plan drawn up by the prefect of police Didier Lallement provides for additional police personnel in order to "increase the number of checks on public roads to prevent the commission of offenses and to sanction dangerous behavior, anarchic parking, incivility and traffic offenses" .

There is also provision for a "temporary restriction on the circulation of electric scooters" between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. "between the Champs-Elysées roundabout included and Place Charles de Gaulle included".

A decree in this direction was taken by the prefect.

Controls relating to the sale of nitrous oxide will also be carried out: prohibition of sale to minors and adults in certain places (discos, tobacco, temporary drinking establishments, etc.), as well as the sale or distribution of balloons especially dedicated "to the diverted use of protoxide".
