All of the important indicators for determining the corona pandemic have increased in numbers in Hesse.

According to data from the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin on Thursday (as of 3:12 a.m.), 3054 new infections were reported nationwide within 24 hours.

The seven-day incidence - the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week - climbed to 207.9 from 195.5 the previous day.

With 16 other deaths, 8,007 people have died from the virus since the pandemic began.

A total of 384,408 corona infections have been reported in Hesse so far.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 246 beds were occupied with Covid 19 patients in the intensive care units in the country, 10 of whom were initially suspected of having the disease (as of Wednesday 11.00 a.m.).

The day before, 242 beds in intensive care units were occupied.

The hospitalization incidence, the number of new admissions of Covid 19 sufferers to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, was 4.8 on Thursday after 4.51 on the previous day.

A week earlier, the value was 3.89.

67.1 of the Covid 19 intensive care patients were not or not fully vaccinated against the virus, it said.

Medical president urges vaccination

The President of the State Medical Association of Hesse has once again emphasized the importance of an accelerated corona vaccination campaign. "The only way out of the corona pandemic is: vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate!" Said Edgar Pinkowski on Thursday according to a message in Frankfurt. At the same time he showed a lack of understanding for anti-vaccination opponents within the medical profession. Only through quick vaccinations "can we significantly reduce the number of new infections, protect hospitals from acute overload and protect the outpatient sector from overload in the long term," said Pinkowski. He thanked all vaccinating doctors who saved people from illness and death with their "extraordinary commitment". On the other hand, he has no understanding for individual colleagues"Who with statements that are critical and anti-vaccination not only damage the reputation of the medical profession, but above all also endanger the fight against pandemics".

The State Medical Association consistently investigates all complaints against doctors "who deny Corona or make false claims about vaccination and thus make patients insecure," the President said.

If the allegations are confirmed, professional steps will be taken.

Meanwhile, pharmacists are offering that they want to give the vaccination campaign a new boost through offers in their pharmacies.

In line with the development, the demand for free tests is increasing again.

The test centers confirm a higher number of visitors, but there is currently no threat of a bottleneck.

Offenbach at its highest

In three municipalities, the seven-day incidence reportedly reached a value of more than 300. According to the RKI dashboard, it was highest in the city of Offenbach with 311.7.

It was above 300 in the Odenwaldkreis (310.1) and in Frankfurt (306.9).

Wiesbaden and the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz have an incidence of 182, Darmstadt is at a comparable level with 186.

The intensive care bed occupancy and the incidence of hospitalization are important indicators for assessing the current corona situation.

If they exceed certain limit values, further measures to contain the pandemic apply.

A first warning level takes effect when the hospitalization value rises above 8 or more than 200 intensive care beds are occupied by corona patients.
