November 18, 2021 Slovakia will impose "a lockdown for the unvaccinated" against coronavirus.

Prime Minister Eduard Heger's live TV announcement comes after a record increase in infections.

The country of 5.5 million people surpassed 8,000 new cases on Tuesday, and ICU beds have been in short supply since the beginning of this week.

Furthermore, there is one of the lowest vaccination rates in the European Union, with 45% of the population immunized compared to the EU average of 65%.

Prime Minister Heger, announcing the no vax squeeze, in force since Monday for 3 weeks and which follows the one adopted in Austria, stressed that vaccinated people will be the first to benefit from a reduction in restrictions.

Only those who have had the vaccine or have had Covid in the last six months will be able to enter restaurants, shopping centers, shops with non-essential goods, sports activities and public events.

And there is also the obligation to test unvaccinated people at work in all regions most affected by the epidemic.
