US President Joe Biden has announced that he is considering a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics, scheduled for February next year.

President Biden said during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House that he was "considering" a question about whether to consider a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

President Biden had his first video summit since taking office with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 15th, but the Beijing Olympics were not included in the discussion topic.

Shortly after the meeting, some US media reported that the US was considering a diplomatic boycott by sending a delegation but not sending an official delegation on the grounds of human rights.

If the U.S. actually decides to boycott it diplomatically, it seems that the South Korean government's plan to use the Beijing Winter Olympics as a momentum for improving inter-Korean and North Korea relations, such as declaring the end of the war, will be unavoidable.
