New impulse to the cause opened in the National Court for the alleged irregular financing of Podemos. The magistrate of the Central Court of Instruction number 6 has ordered to investigate the Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit of the Police (Udef) the transfers of funds worth 142,000 dollars (125,507 euros at the current exchange rate) that the founders of Podemos received from Venezuela Carolina Bescansa,

Jorge Lago

and

Ariel Jerez

, through the company Viu Comunicaciones.

According to sources from the investigation to EL MUNDO, the reinforcement judge

Joaquín Gadea

has issued a car dated this Wednesday in which he agrees on a battery of proceedings after the former head of Venezuelan intelligence

Hugo Carvajal

, known by the alias of

El Chicken

, gave a statement at the Hearing on October 27 and recounted in detail the alleged irregular financing of the purple formation.

Along with tracking the bank movements of the founders of United We Can, the instructor orders the Judicial Police to analyze the companies

Viu Comunicaciones

and

Viu Europa

, as well as their alleged involvement in these events.

It so happens that in his recent statement Hugo Carvajal argued that both companies were used as front companies to finance

purple

training

in our country.

This conglomerate of companies already emerged a few years ago, having collected 69,000 euros from the also founder of Podemos Juan Carlos Monedero for alleged consulting services for the creation of a single currency for several Latin American countries.

The role of Purse

In parallel, the judge also orders the Udef to carry out procedures aimed at ascertaining the presence of Monedero in Venezuela, as well as the accreditation of its charges.

The historic leader of the

purple

formation

has been accused in court by the former head of Venezuelan Intelligence of charging the Government of Nicolás Maduro for fictitious advisory work channeled through the state oil company PDVSA.

Along the same lines, Carvajal provided a report to the court on October 5 in which he affirmed that the Maduro government carried out activities aimed at financing Podemos.

To substantiate his assertions, he sent the court a document that was intended to raise to the president of Venezuela the approval of funds for PDVSA's participation in the XXI World Petroleum Congress in Moscow.

In that document, dated October 16, 2016, the company Viu Comunicaciones was hired, which according to the former head of Venezuelan intelligence would have been used instrumentally for the irregular financing of the Podemos party.

Money and business

As stated in the documentation sent to the National Court, the hiring was carried out for an amount of 532,520 dollars (470,618 euros at the current exchange rate) for everything related to the participation of the state oil company PDVSA in the aforementioned congress, including 110,000 dollars (97,213 euros ) for the direct management of Viu Comunicaciones. The company Prodiseño was subcontracted for 280,520 dollars (184,288 euros) and 142,000 dollars were allocated to the sociologists Ariel Jerez, Carolina Bescansa and Jorge Lago, founders of the

purple

formation

.

Specifically, Judge Gadea now orders the Udef to analyze the reality of the money transfer reflected in the documentation provided by

El Pollo

in relation to the bank accounts of Viu Comunicaciones, Viu Europa, Prodiseño and those of Bescansa, Jerez and Lago .

Sources close to these companies assure this newspaper that the only link they have had with Podemos leaders was limited to the payment they received from Monedero, and they emphasize that they carried out the services for which they charged.

They also reject having contributed to the illegal financing of the party or having maintained a relationship with any leader of Podemos.

Hugo Carvajal, who has begun to collaborate with the Spanish justice to avoid being extradited for drug trafficking to the United States, has declared that he had knowledge that the Venezuelan Government had arranged the shipment or delivery of financial assets from alleged illegal activities to different countries to finance political movements as "part of foreign policy."

With this activity, the Government of Nicolás Maduro would have tried to achieve influence at the international level.

The declaration of 'El Pollo'

According to the former head of intelligence of Chavismo, the money remittances from the Venezuelan government would have been destined, among other countries, Argentina, Brazil,

Paraguay

, Peru, Colombia, Italy and Spain.

In the Spanish case, the witness pointed out that the deliveries of funds were aimed at financing, through different channels, the training led by Pablo Iglesias.

Always according to the judicial declaration provided by Carvajal, these cash transfers would have been carried out in Spain through a Venezuelan diplomatic bag or through different companies.

For its part,

El Pollo

also affirmed that Podemos was financed through cash deliveries in Venezuela from the Cuban embassy.

In this open procedure for the illegal financing of Podemos, crimes of money laundering, tax fraud and document falsification are investigated.

The cause remains secret.
