  The source also stated that “the search for these soldiers is currently underway. In addition, two combat positions are controlled by the enemy (Azerbaijan).”

  The Ministry of Defence of Armenia added that after the fighting, the ceasefire agreement on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan was basically observed.

  On the other hand, the Ministry of National Defense of Azerbaijan announced on the 17th local time that 7 Azerbaijani soldiers were killed and 10 injured in the conflict. The current situation is stable.

  Regarding the conflict between Yas and Azerbaijan, on the 17th local time, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov said that the renewed war between Armenia and Azerbaijan caused serious concern to the Kremlin.

  Peskov also said that Russia is actively mediating, and President Putin has already had a phone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan on the 16th.

  After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the two countries broke out in war over the ownership of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Naka) region.

In 1994, the two sides reached an agreement on a comprehensive ceasefire, but the two countries have been in a state of hostility due to the Naqqa issue, and armed conflicts have occurred from time to time.

  In September 2020, a new round of conflict broke out between the two countries over the Naka issue.

On November 9th of the same year, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement announcing a complete ceasefire in the Naka region from 0:00 Moscow time on the 10th.
