The grandnephew of a 78-year-old woman, found dead on November 11 in her home in Estagel, a commune in the Pyrénées-Orientales, was indicted and placed under arrest for murder on Tuesday.

His partner was also indicted and placed under a committal warrant for complicity in murder.

The victim's son had called for help, worried he would not hear from his mother.

When they arrived at the old lady's home, located about twenty kilometers from Perpignan, the emergency services discovered her bloody body.

The autopsy revealed that she had been dead for three days.

She found stab wounds, probably due to stab wounds, and trauma.

No elements on the motive of the crime

The public prosecutor of Perpignan, Jean-David Cavaillé, did not give any information on the motive of the murder, stressing that the gendarmes of the research section of Montpellier were in charge of the investigation and that a judicial investigation had just been opened.

It was the hearings, in particular those close to the victim, which made it possible to orient the investigation towards the couple.

He was arrested Sunday in Saint-Gaudens, Haute-Garonne.
