The army unit stationed in Buryatia received several sets of the latest digital radio relay station (TsRRS), designed on the basis of the KamAZ-5350 all-terrain vehicle, the press service of the Eastern Military District reports.

“Digital radio relay station specially designed to improve the efficiency of radio relay communication units in the field.

The mobile complex allows you to significantly expand the horizon of visibility of objects, to increase the efficiency of the elements of the command and staff work of military formations, "- says the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that the newest station allows organizing the transmission of digital streams at rates from 4 to 300 Mbit / s "in three azimuth directions with a dynamic choice of the type of modulation and coding of the transmitted signal."

In the near future, the radio relay complex will be tested during tactical exercises during the winter training period, "where new methods of building communication lines for controlling units will be tested."

"Through almost any obstacle"

Radio-relay communication is based on the retransmission of radio signals in the ultra-short-wave (VHF) range.

It provides the exchange of a variety of information using a chain of transceiving radio stations.

"For military radio relay facilities are characterized by mobility, the ability to work in different climatic conditions, the speed of deployment and folding," - explained on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the military department, radio relay stations are used to establish and maintain communication, including multichannel in video format.

To mislead the enemy about forthcoming actions, communication is often carried out in analog, digital and mixed modes.

Today, the Russian troops are receiving CRRS, which have the ability to quickly organize a high-speed secure communication network.

For this, radio relay stations are equipped with equipment based on the latest element base and advanced software that allows tuning the electronics in automatic mode.

As Sergey Denisentsev, an expert at the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, explained in an interview with RT, developers of modern radio relay technology strive to create communication systems that are protected from jamming and attempts to intercept transmitted information by the enemy.

“The main idea of radio relay communication is, first of all, to create stable anti-jamming networks in the theater of operations.

It is believed that this type of communication is significantly better protected from the point of view of the possibility of radio suppression and radio interception than classical radio communication, ”said Denisentsev.

In addition, as the expert said, today in the Russian army, CRRS based on digital rather than analog technologies prevail.

According to him, the digit provides a large throughput of information streams and automates the control processes of the radio relay station equipment.

In a commentary on RT, the military observer for TASS, retired colonel Viktor Litovkin, attributed to the advantages of digital CRRS their unpretentiousness and reliability on the march, especially over difficult rough terrain.

“In digital stations,“ solid-state components ”are used, which are not afraid of off-road conditions, shaking, and, under certain conditions, a blast wave.

It is also important that modern Russian stations are installed on the KamAZ chassis.

The operating experience of these machines suggests that they go through almost any obstacle, ”Litovkin said.

"From tactics to strategy"

As noted by experts, in Russia, the Omsk Production Association "Radio Plant im.

A.S.

Popov ".

In an interview with RT on the sidelines of the Army-2021 international military-technical forum, the deputy director for science of this enterprise, Ivan Afonin, said that the most modern radio relay complex, which is now being transmitted to the RF Armed Forces, is the new-generation R-419L1M mobile system.

According to him, the station was developed on an initiative basis and significantly surpasses the characteristics of the previous samples.

In 2019, it was accepted to supply the Russian army, and its deliveries began in 2020.

“This station is intended for the organization of communication, highly reliable and high-speed data transmission in various control links.

Both vertically - from tactics to strategy, that is, between the troops conducting the battle and the headquarters, where key decisions are made, and horizontally - between regiments, brigades, ”Afonin said.

The deputy director for science of the Omsk enterprise added that in practice the R-419L1M provides information exchange at various levels - "from a company to large formations."

The station can operate in extreme temperature conditions - from -55 ° C to + 65 ° C.

Along with this, the newest CRRS is very compact - all equipment is placed in a box (box body) of one machine.

The system is mounted on a three-axle high-pass KamAZ chassis, capable of overcoming a ford with a depth of 1.8 m.

The main element of the station is mast-type antennas.

During the movement, they are in the kunga, and when deployed on the ground, they rise to a height of 25 m to create a stable communication network between the troops.

“Antennas in R-419L1M organize communication in four directions.

They can work steadily in winds up to 30 m / s, ”said Afonin.

According to the interlocutor of RT, a well-trained crew is able to bring the station up and running in 25 minutes.

This indicator compares favorably with the previous samples, Afonin emphasized.

The RF Ministry of Defense highly appreciates the capabilities of the R-419L1M.

The materials of the military department say that in comparison with the radio relay means of past generations, the new station "has a number of characteristics that significantly increase the mobility of communication centers, as well as the reliability of communication lines organized on their basis."

In addition, the military notes the high operational qualities of the R-419L1M, its maintainability, improved comfort for the crew, and the resistance of the equipment to the effects of electronic warfare (EW).

Another station in the R-419 family operated by the Russian Armed Forces is the R-419-MP Andromeda-D.

This is also the brainchild of the "Radio Plant im.

A.S.

Popov ".

The company's website says that this CRRS is designed "for rapid deployment in the field of special-purpose communication lines."

In addition, the complex can be used "as a radio insertion into cable communication lines" and as a "universal mobile communication center".

There is no information on the tactical and technical characteristics of the complex in open sources.

Another modern radio relay station included in the arsenal of the signal troops of the RF Armed Forces is R-431AM.

It is used to build multi-hop high-speed radio link lines and to organize a broadband radio access network.

According to the Research Institute of Communication and Control Systems (NIISSU), the R-431AM complex is mounted on the KamAZ-63501 chassis.

Its capabilities allow organizing radio relay communication lines with transmission rates of 34 Mbit / s and 155 Mbit / s.

According to Viktor Litovkin, the Russian military is constantly raising requirements for the level of protection and stability of radio relay communications, which is becoming an incentive for the industry to create new products and modernize existing ones.

According to the expert, continuous communication between troops and the creation of a single protected information space are important conditions for defeating the enemy in modern combat.

For this reason, CRRS must be able to work in the most unfavorable climatic conditions, in any weather, withstand the impact of blast waves and even weapons of mass destruction, says Litovkin.

“What I am talking about is very difficult, but quite realizable tasks for our specialists.

I think that domestic radio relay technology is developing very successfully, like all other means of communication of the Russian army, "the expert summed up.
