Police say the two explosions on Tuesday morning are suicide bombings, the perpetrators of which are members
of groups linked to the ADF
.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, surveillance cameras showed a man carrying a backpack setting off a bomb near the Kampala central police station.
The explosion reached a radius of 30m, hitting the entrance gate of the police station.
Three minutes later, a second bomb, carried by two men disguised as motorcycle taxis, exploded in turn just in front of the Ministry of Information, rue du Parlement.
But police spokesman Fred Enanga says a fourth attacker was also arrested by law enforcement in the Bwaise neighborhood, north of the city.
After his arrest, police found an explosive device inside his home.
The authorities mention three dead, three civilians caught in the explosions;
33 people are injured and five are seriously injured, the police spokesman added at a press conference.
Several points of the administrative district of the capital have since been cordoned off by the police, and the army has been deployed on a massive scale in Kampala.
The explosions come just weeks after the
first two bomb attacks
in Uganda.
Attacks also linked by the police to ADF sleeper cells in the country.
