"Our governments do not want to be hostile or try to strategically ... undermine Russia in any way," - said in a statement published on the website of the British Department of Defense.
The document also notes concern about the build-up of Russia's supposedly military power near the borders of Ukraine.
In addition, the UK stressed its commitment to "the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine."
