The British Foreign Office advised British citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon except for essential travel, without providing further details.

"The Department of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development is now advising to avoid all travel to Lebanon except for essential travel and with the exception of those areas to which the Department of State advises against travel," she said in a statement.

The government's website advised against travel to Palestinian refugee camps located 5 kilometers from the Lebanese border with Syria and the Hermel region.

Tourism is historically a major component of the Lebanese economy and has declined significantly since late 2019.

Recently, the Lebanese Minister of Tourism revealed a new slogan to attract tourists to Lebanon, which is "You are crazy with your love" as a point of pride and attraction.
