The hypothesis of a "family conflict" is privileged at this stage of the investigations, according to a judicial source.
Sunday evening, a 44-year-old man was shot dead in the street in Bonneuil-en-France (Val-d'Oise).
The man was targeted by gunfire and received "half a dozen bullets", according to a source familiar with the matter.
The events took place on rue de l'Eglise around 7:00 p.m.
Despite the intervention of the emergency services, the victim died on the spot.
The man's wife was present at the scene and was taken into care, in shock.
During her hearing, she pointed to her brother as the alleged perpetrator.
He arrived by car and fled on foot after the tragedy, she said in her statements.
The couple had lodged a complaint at the Gonesse police station on August 25 for threat of death and theft.
The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police of Versailles to determine the circumstances of this homicide.
No arrests have taken place at this stage.
