“I asked to announce the beginning of military exercises in Latgale region, so that our Belarusian colleagues, if they can be called that, know that it’s not just that,” Artis Pabriks, head of the Latvian Defense Ministry, confirmed the information.

He also indirectly noted that the exercise is connected with the migration crisis on the border of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland with Belarus.

It is noted that their goal will be to test joint cooperation, team structures, logistics, mobility and decision-making procedures.

The exercises will last until December 12.

About 3 thousand servicemen are involved in them.

Earlier, Poland, Lithuania and Belarus reported on the aggravation of the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border in connection with the flow of illegal migrants who arrived from the Belarusian territory.
