The exhibits of the Algerian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai included the bride’s “severe” dress, which is the most luxurious dress among the traditional costumes in the Algerian state of Tlemcen, as it consists of a wide range of supplies and ornaments.

For its artistic, aesthetic and historical value, UNESCO classified it as a common human heritage.

The reason for calling it “the severity” is that it is considered a practical test of the bride’s patience on her wedding night, by wearing a dress that weighs more than 15 kilograms since she left her family’s house to her husband’s house.

The dress consists of 12 coordinating pieces, most notably the blouse, the caftan, the shashiah and the towel.

It is studded with more than 50 items of local traditional jewellery.

Its price exceeds 3000 euros, it takes more than four months to sew it, and it takes four hours to wear it.

The pavilion provides an opportunity to see the journey of this generous country since the dawn of history, while highlighting the human side that soars the hopes, aspirations and ideas of its people to the platforms of success.

It also sheds light on the most prominent projects that the state is working on, especially in renewable energy, and the most prominent pioneering ideas, projects, plans and future programs.
