Raghad, the daughter of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, sent a message to Saif al-Islam, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, after his candidacy for the presidential elections in his country, during which she confirmed that she is waiting for his role in the next stage.

Raghad said - through her account on Twitter - "My dear brother, Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi, I and all your fans are waiting with great interest for the next stage."

Raghad added, "My prayers are for you to return to the position that befits you and serve Libya and return it to its true position."

Yesterday, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, 49, submitted his candidacy papers for the presidency of Libya, and submitted his candidacy documents to the electoral management office in the city of Sabha (south), completing the legal justifications, and the Electoral Commission in Libya announced its acceptance of his candidacy papers.

The rules for conducting these elections remain a matter of contention between rival Libyan factions, and the legal status of Saif al-Islam remains a matter of debate. He is on death row in Libya for war crimes and is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Saif al-Islam is the son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who was revolted by the Libyans in 2011, and was killed in Sirte after spending 4 decades in power.
