The UAE is first globally in 9 indicators related to "good health" within the sustainable development goals

The UAE leads the world in 9 competitive indicators related to the extent of progress in achieving the third goal of the sustainable development goals, "good health and well-being", according to the monitoring conducted by the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics for the Emirates News Agency "WAM".

According to the center, the UAE topped the world in the following indicators: “The sex ratio index at birth, the percentage of live infants who received two vaccines recommended by the World Health Organization, the antenatal care coverage index, the absence of deaths and injuries from natural disasters, and the index of the absence of deaths and injuries from natural disasters, and the index Immunization against infectious “diphtheria”, an indicator of the presence of medical programs for early detection, an indicator of health care coverage, an indicator of the percentage of children who received the hepatitis vaccine, and an indicator of immunization against measles.

The Center confirmed that the country won these centers based on the reports of the major international references concerned, which included the Global Gender Gap Report issued by the World Economic Forum, the Sustainable Development Goals Index issued by the "Bertelsmann Foundation" and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and the Prosperity Index report issued by the Institute. Legatim".

In the same context, the UAE ranked second in the world in 3 indicators: “the lack of maternal mortality per 100,000 live births in the report of the sustainable development goals issued by the “Bertelsmann” Foundation and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and the indicator of the lack of health problems within the prosperity index report issued by the Institute "Legatim", and the indicator of the decrease in the maternal mortality ratio within the report of the gender inequality index issued by the United Nations Development Program.

The UAE also ranked third globally in the indicator of births that were supervised by a specialized health staff, and the indicator of the low rate of tuberculosis per 100,000 - contained in the report of the Sustainable Development Goals Index issued by the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. It achieved third place in reproductive health in the global open data index.

The UAE occupies the fourth place globally in the index of low prevalence of "stunting" under the fifth in the report of the Sustainable Development Goals Index issued by the "Bertelsmann Foundation" and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and the index of the level of satisfaction with health care within the report of the Prosperity Index issued by the Legatem Institute.

Providing world-class health care is one of the six pillars of the UAE's national agenda, and the government is making continuous efforts to enhance the welfare and health care of the population, both citizens and residents.

In order to ensure the achievement of sustainable development at the local and international levels, the General Secretariat of the National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals launched a number of pioneering initiatives, including the initiative of global councils for sustainable development goals, including a global council specialized in the third goal headed by Dr. Muhammad Ali Bhat, Professor of Public Health Practice at Harvard University, in partnership With Dr. Susanna Jacobs, Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organization.

The “Health Map” is one of the most prominent initiatives in the field of health launched by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center, which represents the General Secretariat of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals. It is an interactive “geospatial” map within the unified map project, which was developed by experts at the Federal Competitiveness Center. It focuses on health facilities in the country and provides access to all their data in an easy and interactive way.
