At the wheel of his car, the man had in fact gone to Eure-et-Loir before taking back the direction of Le Mans.

The wrong way on the highway, he drove for about an hour, as reported by four motorists alarmed by the situation.

He was finally intercepted shortly before 2 a.m. by motorcyclists from the gendarmerie, near La Ferté-Bernard.
