More than 1,800 miles now separate the first Ultimate from the last in the Class 40 category as the lead boat enters this unstable weather zone.

Cammas and Caudrelier had a 143-mile lead on Saturday around 1:00 p.m. GMT over François Gabart and Tom Laperche (SVR-Lazartigue).

In this same Ultimate category, Thomas Coville and Thomas Rouxel (Sodebo ultim 3) brought up the rear with more than 485 miles behind Maxi Edmond de Rotschild after resuming the race on Friday morning.

They had struck an unidentified floating object (ofni) on Thursday and needed several hours to repair during a technical stopover in Madeira.

In the Imoca category (the Vendée Globe boats, 18m monohull), the fight was still close between the three leading boats.

Thomas Rouillard and Morgan Lagravière (LinkOut) preceded Jérémie Beyou / Christopher Pratt (Charal) by 5.3 miles and Charlie Dalin / Paul Meilhat (Apivia) by 12.8 miles.

"We are going to decide where we are going to go based on the latest weather forecast. It is not necessarily easy because there are downwinds to manage, areas of weak wind, acceleration, bands in which we do not have the power. right to navigate, traffic, we will have to take all this into account in our choices, "said Charlie Dalin in statements broadcast by the organizers.

In the Ocean Fifty category (15 meters), Sébastien Rogues and Matthieu Rouben (Primonial) led with nearly 40 miles in advance.

In Class 40 (12-meter monohulls), Antoine Carpentier and Pablo Santurde Del Arco (Redman) took the lead with less than a mile ahead of Nicolas Jossier and Alexis Loison (La Manche #EvidenceNautique).
