A night like any other in Corsica.

The island of Beauty, wild and indomitable, has made a new victim among buildings.

An "explosion of criminal origin" partially destroyed a residence under construction in Corte, around 2 am in the night from Friday to Saturday.

Arnaud Viornery, the public prosecutor of Bastia, confirmed that the explosion had not injured anyone and that a firing device had been found on the spot.

An investigation was therefore opened, and four nearby homes were evacuated.

The explosion was not the subject of any claim, and no tag was observed on the site where a gas canister was found.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the company which is selling this two-story building belongs to a local entrepreneur.

But the context is hot on the island, where the underground independence group FLNC had threatened a return to armed struggle on the island if the French state continued "its policy of contempt".

At the beginning of September, the FLNC had already carried out an attempted attack against four bungalows belonging to a continental near Ajaccio.
