At least Sudanese protesters died today in the hospital - some
from gunshot wounds and suffocation
- in the massive protests called in Sudan against the coup d'état perpetrated by the military on October 25 to three, according to the Sudanese Medical Committee.
According to a committee statement, one of the protesters lost his life at the Royal Care hospital in Khartoum, where he was admitted after being shot.
Another died of "tear gas suffocation" at the Al Arbain medical center, located in the neighboring city of the capital, Um Durman.
The cause of death of the other three protesters is unknown at the moment.
In total, there are already five people who have died as a result of the repression of the security forces during this day of demonstrations.
This committee, which counts the deaths and injuries during the protests, added that
"there are a large number of wounded of different severity
in hospitals in Khartoum who are receiving treatment."
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of several cities in Sudan today, in response to the call of the so-called resistance committees and opposition platforms to show their rejection of the coup and
call for the reestablishment of the government dissolved
in the coup, as well as the release of detained politicians.
Members of the organizing committees and witnesses told Efe that "dozens" of protesters were injured in various parts of the country as a result of the intervention of the security forces, who have used
tear gas and batons to disperse the protests.
The international community and organizations such as the UN have in recent days urged the Sudanese military that carried out the coup to allow citizens to protest freely, after the demonstrations that followed the coup
resulted in at least 14 deaths.
On October 25, the Sudanese military leader, General

, declared a state of emergency and dissolved the organs created for the democratic transition in the African country, in addition to detaining the Prime Minister,
Abdullah Hamdok
, who is in house arrest.
