Medvedev said that he discussed at the Security Council site with the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, Rosgvardia and the Federal Penitentiary Service, measures to improve the penitentiary system, as well as the implementation of the Concept for the development of the penitentiary system of Russia for the period up to 2030.
"It is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation of all crimes committed in the criminal correctional system, to develop effective mechanisms to prevent such crimes," Medvedev said.
In October, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened seven criminal cases on the facts of torture of prisoners in the Saratov region.
The department of the Federal Service for the Execution of Punishments in the Saratov Region announced the dismissal of 18 employees for negative reasons after checking reports of torture of prisoners in the prison tuberculosis hospital (OTB-1).
At the same time, 11 people were brought to the strictest disciplinary responsibility.
