A 30-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday by the Criminal Court of Béziers (Hérault) to two years' imprisonment: he was being prosecuted for trafficking cocaine, in a rural area, around Capestang and Quarante.

The man, released from prison in April 2020, has already been convicted of similar facts.

In 2017, he was sentenced to four years' imprisonment before the Montpellier Court of Appeal for cocaine trafficking located in the same rural area.

To pay off a debt

Heavy investigations by the gendarmes made it possible to arrest him on November 8, at his home.

A dozen potential clients were identified by investigators, but only four admitted to having bought cocaine from him.

“After having made use of his right to silence, he ended up acknowledging in police custody, then in court, having sold around thirty grams of cocaine in March and April 2021, allegedly to pay off the debt of one of his brothers with regard to his supplier ”, indicates the prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland.

During the hearing, the man said he regretted the facts, and "to have stopped everything himself from the month of May, in order to preserve his marriage and his professional life".
