Russia will retaliate if the European Union imposes sanctions on Aeroflot in connection with the migration crisis on the border of Belarus and a number of EU countries.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko.

“Of course, there will be some kind of reaction.

But we are not surprised at all, because the impression is that the European Union, on any international problems, instead of entering into a dialogue with those who are really concerned, prefers to immediately grab the sanctions club and wave it mindlessly, "RIA Novosti quotes Grushko ...

The diplomat stated that Brussels should solve existing problems through cooperation and dialogue, since restrictive measures will only worsen the situation and create obstacles "for the very possibility of a normal conversation."

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the EU is discussing the possibility of imposing sanctions against Aeroflot and the Turkish air carrier Turkish Airlines due to problems with refugees who are trying to enter the European Union through the territory of Belarus.

In turn, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, following talks with US President Joe Biden, said that the EU would consider the possibility of imposing sanctions against airlines involved in "smuggling people to Minsk and then to the EU-Belarus border."

On Thursday, November 11, the press secretary of the Polish Foreign Ministry Lukasz Yasina confirmed this information on the air of the radio station "Echo of Moscow".

At the same time, he said that Warsaw has data, according to which Aeroflot allegedly supported the "action" organized by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to deliver people from the Middle East.

Commenting on this statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the words of the press secretary of the Polish Foreign Ministry about Aeroflot's involvement in the delivery of migrants to Belarus a lie.

“If very diplomatically, then this is not true, and Aeroflot does not have flights between the capitals of those countries from which refugees are flowing to Europe after Europe, together with America, bombed these countries.

Well, Aeroflot does not fly from these capitals to the capital of the Republic of Belarus, "Lavrov said during a press conference following talks with the Foreign Minister of Mali.

The press service of the domestic air carrier also stressed that they do not operate either regular or charter flights to the cities of Iraq and Syria, as well as flights on the Istanbul - Minsk route.

“Information about the participation or assistance of PJSC“ Aeroflot ”in organizing the mass transportation of migrants to the territory of the Republic of Belarus does not correspond to reality,” said the press secretary of the company Yulia Spivakova.

Aeroflot also noted that publications on sanctions could negatively affect the firm's activities, so the company intends to protect itself and its shareholders in every possible way.

Aeroflot is the largest internationally operating company with offices in dozens of countries around the world.

Information about the threat of imposition of sanctions may have a significant negative impact on the operating, financial activities of the company, its capitalization, ”the press service emphasized.

The situation has already had a negative impact on Aeroflot shares.

According to the Moscow Exchange, at the opening, their value fell by 2.3% to 66.28 rubles per share, after which the shares began to win back a little.

In turn, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov reiterated that Moscow has nothing to do with what is happening on the border of Belarus and Poland, but is making efforts to resolve the situation.

“Let's all the same count on the fact that such crazy ideas live only in such informational stuff.

We have already seen the statement of the company that they did not provide and do not provide the transportation of migrants to Minsk, do not take part in this.

In addition, even if some airlines do it, it in no way contradicts any international norms.

This also needs to be clearly realized, ”said Peskov.

"Sanctions wars do not lead to anything good"

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa, in a conversation with RT, confirmed that Moscow will have to rightfully move to retaliatory measures if any "fictitious sanctions" are introduced against Aeroflot.

“I emphasize once again that these sanctions wars, which are being organized by the West, do not produce any results and do not lead to anything good,” he said.

In turn, Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, stressed that the accusations against the Russian company are absolutely groundless, and the possibility of imposing sanctions is absurd.

“We do not participate in these processes, this is not our topic, not our game.

The EU and the US provoked this migration crisis with their actions.

The United States destroyed the statehood of Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq ... People began to flee from this chaos and lawlessness, Merkel and her team in the EU opened the doors and said: here you are, we are saving people, come to us.

Thousands of people rushed to Germany for benefits.

Now people have fallen into a trap, "said the interlocutor of RT.
