For the occasion, the courthouse was very secure, the entrances were filtered and a large police force was set up around the court.
And finally around 10 a.m., Barthélémy Dias' lawyer therefore announced
the postponement of the hearing
.
The new appointment is set for December 1.
In the absence of the main defendant and in the absence also of the other defense lawyers, the case was "
not ready for trial
", the Court said.
Why was
Barthélémy Dias
not there?
Maître Khoureichy Ba spoke of “
traffic jams
”.
At the same time, Barthélémy Dias was on his way.
The video of his trip was posted on his Facebook page.
He was accompanied by
Ousmane Sonko
, the leader of the Pastef party, and dozens of supporters.
Incidents were reported on the route, with tear gas firing at point E and a large deployment of security forces near the University Cheikh Anta Diop.
Activists accuse these security forces of having blocked the convoy.
Barthélémy Dias had called for "
resistance
" on Wednesday.
He denounces "
a vulgar political conspiracy
", with the approach of the local elections of January 23.
This is also denounced by Khalifa Sall, the former mayor of Dakar, who was in court on Wednesday.
For its part, the majority speak of a "
manipulation
".
She affirms that the date of convocation was planned and known well before the declaration of candidacy of Barthélémy Dias and that it therefore has nothing to do with the electoral process.
