As the moment approaches, the atmosphere heats up.

The Congress of Deputies will vote on the appointments to the Constitutional Court this Thursday and there are more and more critical voices among the parties that make up the Government about the ratification of

Enrique Arnaldo

, candidate proposed by the Popular Party.

Even so, the PSOE and United We can reaffirm that they will vote in favor and that they will maintain group discipline.

Although it is something that they cannot guarantee because the vote is secret.

If this Tuesday it was the socialist deputy

Odon Elorza

who defined Arnaldo's candidacy as a "swallow it", a day later the minority member of the Executive has shown his discomfort: United We can support "with a clamp on the nose" the appointment of this candidate

,

who is accused of having links with the administrations managed by the PP and for having shown a high "level of political exposure." But the sense of the vote of the

purple

will not change and will vote in favor of its suitability.

"It is not the desired option, but it is the least bad," said

Jaume Asens

, president of the confederal group United We Can in Congress on the global pact, which has shielded itself in that he only knew "partially" Arnaldo's curriculum.

Minutes later, the Second Vice President and Minister of Labor,

Yolanda Díaz

, in the corridors of Congress accused the PP of "putting the independence of the institutions at risk" by presenting an applicant who does not meet the necessary conditions.

"The PP has not been up to the task" demanded by the debate this Thursday, Diaz has lamented.

Although contrary positions have emerged, PSOE and United We can trust that no one will break the voting discipline to oppose the appointment of Arnaldo, although they cannot guarantee it because they will pronounce by secret ballot.

In this regard, the spokesman for the PSOE Executive,

Felipe Sicilia

, has assured that in their formation they are "responsible for exercising group discipline when the management decides the vote that we have to cast."

Sicilia has come up against criticism by guaranteeing that the PSOE will comply with the agreements reached with the PP and has stressed that they will do so because they are a "responsible and respectful" party with what they agree to.

ERC spokesman Gabriel Rufián has encouraged internal criticism within the PSOE and United We Can and has "welcomed" "brave people" like Odon Elorza.

Along the same lines, the leader of Más País, Íñigo Errejón, has assured that he does not understand the "shameful and embarrassing" votes and has affirmed that his two deputies will vote against because Arnaldo "is not suitable."

In the plenary session on Thursday, each of the candidates proposed by the Government and the main opposition party will be voted to renew certain constitutional bodies, such as the Constitutional Court or the Court of Accounts. Ángel Gabilondo, former PSOE candidate for the Community of Madrid, will also be elected as the new Ombudsman. The candidates agreed between the two parties that make up the Executive and the popular ones - Enrique Arnaldo, Concepción Espejel, Inmaculada Montalbán and Ramón Sáez - have already received the disapproval of numerous formations in recent weeks, during the Appointments Consultative Commission.

Then, groups such as Ciudadanos, Vox, ERC or PNV were absent from the meeting when they understood that a "little theater" had been agreed with which to distribute these positions.

Despite its rejection, the favorable vote of the PSOE, United We Can and PP is expected to give the green light to the unlocking of the institutions.
