(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Pfizer submits to the U.S. Drug Administration to approve all adults to be vaccinated with booster shots

China News Service, Washington, November 9th (Reporter Sha Hanting) Pfizer applied to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the 9th local time to approve an emergency authorization for all people aged 18 and over to be vaccinated with Pfizer's new crown vaccine booster.

Pfizer said that the results of a trial with 10,000 participants showed that after the booster injection, the effective rate of preventing symptomatic infections was as high as 95%.

The test also proved that the booster shot is safe, and the side effects are the same as the previous two doses of the vaccine.

Pfizer previously applied for booster shots for people aged 16 and above, but in September this year, the FDA only approved booster shots for people 65 years and older and high-risk groups.

According to statistics from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, currently, more than 25 million people in the United States have been vaccinated with booster shots, accounting for 13.1% of the total population.

Recently, as the Thanksgiving holiday approaching has brought an increase in travel and gatherings, and the effectiveness of vaccines has diminished over time, some experts believe that it is time to provide boosters to a wider group of people.

According to the New York Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, the FDA may approve the provision of booster injections to all adults before Thanksgiving.

At present, some countries in the world have approved intensified vaccination for the elderly and high-risk groups.

Israel has approved a booster shot for all people 12 years of age and older.
