Kuwait..a security source talks about “extremism, not banning” visas for the Lebanese

Agence France-Presse quoted an unnamed security source as saying that the authorities decided to "strict" in granting visas to the Lebanese "without issuing an official circular to that effect."

The Kuwaiti security source, who was described by the agency as "informed of the decision," said: "There is a verbal decision to strictly issue tourist and commercial visas to the Lebanese without an official circular to that effect," adding: "There is strictness, not prevention."

The Kuwaiti newspaper, "Al-Qabas", quoted "informed security sources" as saying that "the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has stopped issuing all kinds of visas to the Lebanese until further notice."

The newspaper pointed out that "the decision includes stopping the issuance of all kinds of visits, whether family, tourist, commercial or governmental, as well as stopping the features of joining a family, in addition to stopping the entry features (work visa)."

The Kuwaiti decision comes less than two weeks after the outbreak of a diplomatic crisis between Lebanon and four Gulf states.
