Minister of the Environment Yamaguchi has left for the United Kingdom to attend COP26, a UN conference on climate change.

At the site, we will engage in ministerial-level negotiations toward an agreement to create rules for the Paris Agreement, an international framework for climate change countermeasures.

At COP26 held in Glasgow, England, a ministerial-level meeting began on the 9th, and Minister Yamaguchi left for the United Kingdom after the second Kishida Cabinet certification ceremony on the night of the 10th.

At COP26, negotiations are underway to see if each country can unite to limit the rise in global average temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and to create rules for the steady implementation of the "Paris Agreement."

Minister Yamaguchi wants to attend ministerial-level meetings, insist on Japan's position, and contribute to the coordination of discussions.

In addition, we will hold individual meetings with the United States and China, which emit a large amount of greenhouse gases, to exchange opinions on the efforts of each country.

In addition, we plan to participate in events held in conjunction with the conference to showcase the latest technologies and initiatives for climate change countermeasures being promoted by Japan.

Minister Yamaguchi made a comment before his departure, saying, "Toward the improvement of ambitious efforts to reduce emissions and the conclusion of negotiations on the implementation rules of the Paris Agreement, including the market mechanism, while firmly insisting on Japan's ideas, Ministers We will do our best to negotiate between them.
