German NGOs, which evaluate climate change countermeasures by country and region around the world and create rankings, said that Japan has few concrete measures to achieve greenhouse gas reduction targets, and 61 countries and regions. It was evaluated as 45th among them.

German NGOs such as "Germanwatch" score greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy introduction status by country and region around the world with the cooperation of experts, and create rankings every year.

This year's ranking was announced on the 9th, and Japan was ranked 45th out of 61 countries and regions.

The reason is that Japan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 by 46% compared to 2013 and aim for virtually zero by 2050, but there is no clear plan to achieve it, and it is concrete. It has been pointed out that there are few such policies.

In addition, it has been ordered that Japan's basic energy plan, which states that 19% of power generation will be covered by coal-fired power generation as of 2030, should be set as a target by when coal-fired power generation will be eliminated.

In the ranking, the 1st to 3rd places were not applicable, and the 4th place was Denmark, followed by Sweden and Norway, and the Nordic countries that are actively working on the introduction of renewable energy ranked high.

On the other hand, China, which has the highest greenhouse gas emissions in the world, was 37th, and the United States, which has the second highest emission, was 55th.
