During a visit to the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona on September 20 last year, Vox deputies Ignacio Garriga and Rocío de Meer, along with other members of the formation, were chased by a group of about thirty people, who sympathize with " self-styled anti-fascist platforms, ideologically opposed to the Vox party ". This is considered by the Prosecutor's Office that asks for fines of 7,200 euros and the prohibition of attending Vox events for three years for seven protesters for a crime of coercion, with the aggravating factor of discrimination by ideology and in competition with another slight abuse.

The Prosecutor's Office highlights that the defendants, along with the rest of the protesters, received the Vox delegation, which had come to the Raval to meet with the neighbors, with red and pro-independence flags and shouts of "fascists out of our neighborhoods." In addition, "the contempt that they feel towards that political formation and its postulates led them to attack the deputies and their entourage" and they blame those accused of throwing firecrackers, smoke cans, eggs, cans and bleach at the Vox entourage, " aware that they could impair their physical integrity ".

That is why they "managed to corner" the deputies Rocío De Meer and Ignacio Garriga and the rest of the delegation had to take refuge in a hotel on Hospital Street in Barcelona. While they were there, the Prosecutor's Office accused the defendants of "kicking against their access door", hitting the two chambers of the facade with a stick and throwing eggs, bleach, stones and cans in addition to lighting flares, firecrackers and smoke cans . The police intervention of the Mossos d'Esquadra allowed the Vox delegation to leave without suffering injuries. In addition to the fine, the prosecutor requests that the defendants compensate the two Vox deputies, as well as three other party members who accompanied them, with 700 euros for the moral damage caused.

However, Vox, which acts as a private prosecutor, claims six years in prison for those accused for the crimes of coercion, threats, against fundamental rights and damages, with the aggravation of ideological discrimination.

They consider that the party's delegation had to take refuge in the hotel since the protesters tried to "lynch" them.

In its letter, the formation remarks that "the deputies and members of Vox came to fear for their physical integrity, were afraid and had the feeling that the accused could comply with the threats they made, given the forcefulness and violence with which they they acted, and the large group of people that congregated there along with the rest of the accused ".

The defendants denounced yesterday that they are being persecuted for combating "the hate speech of the extreme right" and added that "we are facing the latest onslaught of fascism and of those who protect and promote it with an attempt to economically suffocate the antifascist movement, of criminalize us and imprison us.
