Every year, more than 400 babies die in the womb in Sweden, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare. In Stockholm County, about 100 stillborn children are born each year, according to the Infant Fund. Now, new guidelines from the National Board of Health and Welfare will prevent children from dying in the womb.
Nationally, the number has been at the same level for the past 20 years, and Sweden is higher than the rest of the Nordic region.
According to the new guidelines, each individual case must be carefully investigated.
