Kenyan Albert Korir won the 50th edition of the New York marathon in 2 hours 08'22.

Third was the Italian Eyob Faniel in 2 hours 09'56.

The 27-year-old African covered the legendary 42 kilometers and 195 meters in 2 hours 08'22.

According to the Moroccan Mohamed El Aaraby (2 hours 09'06).

Faniel, 28, a native of Asmara in Eritrea and resident in the Bassano del Grappa area since childhood, is the Italian marathon record holder with 2 hours 07'19 ". He has been in command of the race for a long time, but with the passing of kilometers failed to respond to Korir's attack.

In 50 years of history, four Italians - three men and one woman - have won the New York marathon.

In 1984 and 1985 the first to cross the finish line in Central Park was Orlando Pizzolato, in 1986 Gianni Poli, in 1996 Giacomo Leone and in 1998 Franca Fiacconi.
