It had just struck nine in the evening, local time, when the Astroworld music festival degenerated in Texas.

One of the festival's big draws, rapper Travis Scott, was on stage when the pressure from the crowd became too great.

Witnesses describe how people were pressed against the riot fence, some so severely that they lost consciousness.

- It was so difficult to move that all you could do was wait to be pushed back again, and it was when it happened that people started to fall, says Angel Rodriguez, who was standing near the stage.

The artist interrupted several times

In clips from the audience, you can hear how several people shout at other visitors to back down.

Angel says that Travis Scott interrupted the concert several times to point out the situation, but that it did not help.

After a while, the concert was completely interrupted, and when the around 50,000 visitors began to move towards the exit, they were met by a sea of blue lights.

- There were lots of ambulances and police.

I saw someone being driven away on a stretcher while they were doing heart-calm rescue.

It's sad to think that someone's heart stopped there in the audience, says Angel Rodriguez.
