The infection control physician fears a fourth corona wave

- It looks like we are at a stage in the whole country and in many European countries where we have an increased spread of infection.

If we get more cases, it will be a new wave, says Region Blekinge's infection control doctor Bengt Wittesjö.

Hoping for a lighter wave

His hope is that a fourth wave will not burden healthcare in Blekinge as hard as the previous corona waves.

- What we hope is that there will not be as many who need intensive care, given that we have a fairly high vaccination coverage in the population.

It is the main effect of the vaccination that the person who becomes infected does not become so seriously ill, says Bengt Wittesjö.

When can a fourth wave come to Blekinge?

- We expect that we will have a new peak in December, says Bengt Wittesjö.
