On August 30, Abba made its official Tiktok premiere, and to describe their success on the platform since then, words like "millions" and "billions" must be used.

New songs and the new studio album Voyage, which was released on Friday, have hardly diminished the hype.

Tiktok themselves believe that a number of Abba trends exploded even before the group itself appeared.

#DancingQueenChallenge, where users challenged each other to try out the group's legendary vocals, has resulted in over 160 million video views.

Tiktok is largely a song and dance app, which suited Abba.

Tiktok is usually described as an app for children and young people, and that dusty adults do best in staying far, far away.

But, the 70-plus in Abba have obviously been warmly welcomed.

What is it that makes Abbas' music last, and manages to renew its popularity among those born several decades after the band closed down?

Carl Magnus Palm has written books about Abba, and believes that the music and the Mamma Mia musical's cross-generational popularity have raked the manege for today's Tiktok successes.

He believes that children get something from Abba that they do not get from the artists that they "should" like.

- Abba are special because they are so very melody-based.

I think the answer lies in part in the extremely melodic.
