Every Friday, thousands of young people in over 100 countries demonstrate for the climate.

Among other things, they demand that politicians act and ensure that the Paris Agreement is complied with.

SSU's chairman Lisa Nåbo says that she has great respect for the work that is being done, but believes that the protests do not give the desired result.

Climate strike not enough

In her speech during the Social Democrats' congress in Gothenburg on Friday night, she will criticize the climate activists.

She believes that their approach, such as demonstrations, "does not help".

- The solution I see is that you instead go into politics and take over state power, says Lisa Nåbo.

Take over the whole lot

The SSU chairman believes that it is important for young people to get involved in parliament and be involved when the state budget's resources are distributed.

- If a fifth of all young people who demonstrated for the climate in Stockholm had joined the Social Democrats, they would have taken over this party, she says to SVT News and continues:

- Then Fridays for future could have dictated the conditions for what will apply to Sweden's largest party.

That is how you influence in a democratic society, she says.

SVT has been in contact with Fridays for future who choose not to comment on the criticism.

Lisa Nåbo will give her speech during the Social Democrats' congress at 19:00 tonight.
