• Russia NATO expels eight Russian diplomats for espionage

The Russian embassy in Berlin has lost

its second secretary

and, according to German intelligence services, an undercover agent of the Second Service of Russia's FSB intelligence agency.

The 35-year-old diplomat was found dead outside his embassy.

The diplomat, whose identity has not been released, was listed as the second secretary of the legation since the summer of 2019 and, apparently, on October 19, he

fell into the void from the top floor of the building.

It was, according to the Russian embassy, a

"tragic accident".

The death of the diplomat, the son of one of the FSB chiefs, cannot be clarified by the German police, since he was a person with diplomatic immunity.

According to the weekly 'Der Spiegel',

the Russian embassy did not accept that an autopsy be performed on

the body of the deceased, which has already been transferred to Russia.

The "tragic accident" that ended the life of the second secretary is reminiscent of the one suffered in 2003 by the embassy doorman.

He fell onto the legation grounds from his apartment.

It is not the first time that the acronym of the Russian secret services has come to light, although this time indirectly.

The FSB has been linked to the murder of Georgian national and Chechen rebel commander

Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, who was shot in the head in a Berlin park in August 2019.

Germany has accused Russia of ordering the murder.

Second service officials have also been linked to the poisoning of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny in 2020.
