In Iraq, the rate of illiteracy among adolescent girls is twice as high as among boys and only 14% of women have a job, compared to 73% of men, according to the UN.
In Iraqi patriarchal society, women are above all expected to marry young and become good wives and mothers.
This is not a guarantee of security either, since nearly half of married women say they have suffered physical, psychological or sexual violence from their husbands.
Domestic violence, but also forced marriages, so-called "honor" crimes, rape ... there are many threats to Iraqi women.
However, disregarding these risks, some have decided to fight against these traditions and try to create a feminist movement in the country.
