A dismissal for rape by spouse was requested by the public prosecutor of Limoges against the former mayor of Condat-sur-Vienne (Haute-Vienne) Bruno Genest (SE), a- we learned Friday from the lawyer of the former elected.

The prosecution nevertheless requested a referral to correctional for violence by spouse, for which the elected official, now 66 years old, was indicted in May 2019, alongside accusations of rape.

The prosecution then requested the detention of Bruno Genest, but the judge of freedoms and detention was opposed, leaving him free under judicial control.
The "violence of which he is accused does not hold more than the rest," added the lawyer.
The man was accused of violence and rape by his partner, with whom he has a small child, two years ago, facts he had denied outright.
After the revelation of the indictment, Bruno Genest had lost the election for mayor of Condat-sur-Vienne, his post of vice-president of Limoges Métropole and president of the social landlord Limoges Habitat.
