"US President Joe Biden sent CIA Director Burns to Moscow this week to warn the Kremlin that the US is closely monitoring the increase in troop numbers near the border with Ukraine, and to try to determine what motivates Russia's actions," the report said.

The TV channel notes that after his visit to Moscow, Burns spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Earlier, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev met with Burns in Moscow.

Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, also held a meeting with the head of the CIA.
