“Last week we witnessed how unceremoniously Riga continued its attack on Russian and Russian-language media resources,” Lukashevich is quoted by TASS as saying.

According to him, the Russian delegation is forced to "once again raise the issue of gross and systematic violations by Latvia of its obligations in the field of freedom of the press and media pluralism."

"The situation with the First Baltic Channel once again confirms that the goal of the Latvian authorities is to completely" cleanse "the country's media space from Russian and Russian-language media," added the Russian permanent representative.

He stressed that Russia once again calls on Riga "to abandon the political censorship of the media space."

Earlier, Zakharova called on the OSCE to prepare a report on the situation with the criminal prosecution of 14 journalists in Latvia, who collaborated, among other things, with the Russian portals Sputnik and Baltnews.

On October 21, the National Council for Electronic Media of Latvia (NEPLP) canceled the broadcasting license of Channel One's retransmitter - Channel One Baltic.
