04 November 2021A "sharp rise in inflation" since September 2021 in 38 countries - in one month up by half a point - but the entire Eurozone is suffering from rising food and energy prices.

These are the data from the report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which analyzes prices and inflation in all countries of the world. A further leap forward compared to last month for all European countries, linked to the boom in the price of gas. The average for European countries is + 3.4%, but the United States is also no better: + 5.4%. This was announced by the OECD on the basis of standardized data relating to the 38 industrialized countries that make up the area.

Eurozone: food and energy are on the rise

In the Eurozone, inflation marked a marked increase: the dynamics of food prices also accelerated sharply, with inflation at 4.5% from 3.5% last August. Excluding energy and food, OECD inflation in September rose to + 3.2%: the highest level since April 2002, after three months of stability at 3.1%.

According to the international body based in Paris, this is a "sharp acceleration of inflation also in the Eurozone".
