Guterres called on the CAR authorities to hold accountable the attackers of the UN peacekeepers

) strongly condemns the attack by the Central African Republic Presidential Guard on the vehicle of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the CAR in Bangui," the statement said.

According to Guterres, attacks can constitute a war crime.

He also recommended that the country's authorities promptly bring to justice those responsible for the incident.

The document says that at least ten Egyptian peacekeepers were injured when the bus on which they traveled through Bangui was fired upon.

The guards of the President of the Republic of Faustin-Archange Touadera opened fire without warning on a bus carrying unarmed Egyptian police officers heading for the peacekeeping base.
