In America, the Republican candidate's victory in the Virginia gubernatorial election is rightly seen as a warning signal to the Democrats and their presidents.

The majority of the voters in the partly conservative southern state, which has moved from the Washington suburbs, but also liberally influenced it, apparently cannot do much with Biden's renewal agenda, which is also stuck in Congress.

It is noticeable that the election winner Glenn Youngkin scored, among other things, with criticism of the mask requirement in schools and the teaching on racism.

The US is still firmly in control of the Kulturkampf.

The election in Virginia is getting a lot of attention because it is an important intermediate stage on the way to next year's congressional election.

The Democrats have a majority in both chambers, but only a narrow majority in the Senate.

A lot can still happen until November 2022, so the results from Virginia should not be overestimated.

One thing stands out, however.

Youngkin did well in the suburbs of Washington, among other places, which actually tend towards the Democrats.

To do this, he used a clever strategy: Outwardly, he kept his distance from Trump, but served his issues.

Even the Republicans still have no answer to the question of whether they would come back to the White House with Trump themselves.
