The volcanic eruption on the Canary Island of La Palma has now been going on for over six weeks and the lava flows cover over 900 hectares of land.

- Many have lost their homes, their farms and everything they lived on, says nun Vilma Concuelo who lives on the island.

But it is not just the lava that makes it for the islanders.

The ash is also a major problem that requires extensive relief efforts.
