A 27-year-old woman fatally fell 150 meters while climbing the via ferrata in La Clusaz (Haute-Savoie) on September 21.

The gendarmes have just completed their investigation into this tragedy and concluded that it was a tragic accident, reports

Le Dauphiné Libéré on

Tuesday.

The climber was with four other friends when she fell into the void.

She had taken the lead on the group and had just reached the end of the course.

But the young woman had not yet gained the descent path, more secure.

For some reason, she had decided to pull away from the wall and was therefore no longer insured.

No hardware failure

According to the conclusions of the gendarmes of the company and of the high mountain platoon (PGHM) of Annecy, the carabiners of the two lanyards were well clipped to the harness.

A technical failure of the equipment rented for the occasion was therefore ruled out.

However, the reasons for this fatal fall remain a mystery.

The victim's rope companions did not attend the accident directly.

“The victim did not feel unwell.

In all likelihood, it was unbalanced and fell alone ”, told our colleagues the prosecutor of the Republic Line Bonnet.
