A 36-year-old man was remanded in custody by the liberties and detention judge pending trial on December 15.

He is being prosecuted for acts of violence aggravated by the use of a weapon (his vehicle) and by premeditation.

Already known to the courts and in a state of legal recidivism, he faces the maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.

On October 26, at dawn, he would have entered the land of a family in Agde.

After a brief altercation with the 40-year-old father, he allegedly hit him with his vehicle on purpose, then ran over him twice, in the presence of his wife and two minor children.

Vital prognosis for the victim

The victim was urgently helicoptered to the Montpellier University Hospital with a vital prognosis.

A 60-day ITT was finally set subject to complications.

Quickly identified, the suspect was arrested at his home.

He had "a dispute dating back several months in a context of jealousy", explains the public prosecutor of Béziers.

He explained to investigators “that he was in self-defense, claiming that the victim was in possession of a gun.
