Jessica Frisk, care director at Region Östergötland, says that they still have about ten covid patients in the care ward who may need to be transferred to IVA at any time.

- We hope that it continues, but IVA is still filled with other patients.

This is not stable and two days without covid patients at IVA is not something we celebrate.

Also last autumn, the number who needed care for covid 19 went down.

Then the infection increased again.

- We still have the spread of infection and some cluster outbreaks.

We have also seen patients with breakthrough infection despite receiving double doses of vaccine.

The effect of the vaccine may have decreased and it may also be that some people respond less well to the vaccine.

It is important that the whole society is vaccinated.

Frisk also says that the care is quite heavily burdened by the RS virus and an outbreak of VRE, which antibiotics do not bite on.

- Then we wait for the seasonal flu to strike and the infection control is worried that it will be worse than last year.

Hygiene routines remain important.

You should also stay at home if you feel sick.
